9 v 9 Football
Help & Guidance...
Please see the PDF's below for more information from the FA regarding pitch markings for 9 v 9.
• 80x50 yards is The FA's preferred size for 9v9 football but 70x40 yard pitch can be used where there are site specific issues concerning size. Double marking in a different colour and cones can also be used.
• Preferred goalpost size is 16x7ft but 21x7ft is acceptable if these are already in situ or have been purchased. They should meet the relevant British Standard and we are in the process of adding UPVC goals to the standard so that this will be a more cost effective option.
• This guidance is issued to those leagues wishing to adopt this format of the game ahead of the proposed 9v9 mandatory timescales. They should be used as interim guidance until the Youth Development Review has been completed. The FA will be issuing formal notification to all leagues and clubs along with providing resources to support the introduction of this format of the game once all the consultation has been processed and agreed.
Re: Sport England Small Grants Fund
Please see the attached link to the Sport England website and a source of potential funding for 9v9 goals. Apparently a league in the North West have been granted funding as a contribution for goalposts in their league.
The website will give you some guidance about the application and what they will or will not fund.
